DC vs LSG

The match was played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The home team, LSG, won the toss and elected to bat first. The visitors, DC, were led by skipper David Warner and opener Prithvi Shaw. Both players scored fifties for their respective sides. The Delhi batsmen, however, fell short of the target set by the home side.

A sluggish start from the visitors saw them reach just 40/0 after four overs. But the introduction of Mark Wood turned things around for the away side. He struck two sixes off the fifth delivery and then ripped through a couple of overs from Kyle Mayers and Nicholas Pooran to put Lucknow in command at 107/2 after 13 overs.

With just over 100 to get, DC were in danger of losing momentum. But the hosts fought back bravely with some superb strokes from the likes of Vipraj Nigam, who made his debut for the Delhi franchise and announced himself in spectacular fashion. He muscled the bowlers to the ground and smashed them for some spectacular sixes.

However, despite their best efforts, the Delhi batsmen were unable to reach the target and were bowled out for 208. The wickets for DC came from the likes of Ishant Sharma, who took three, as well as Yash Thakur and Naveen-ul-Haq, who each claimed two.

LSG, on the other hand, were able to build a decent total of 207 runs in their 20 overs. Tristan Stubbs and Abishek Porel both scored a fifty for the home team, while Jake Fraser-McGurk also got off the mark with a flurry of sixes on his IPL debut.

But a sluggish final over from Axar Patel and the absence of regular wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Khan meant they were always struggling to keep up with the required rate of run-scoring. The result means that DC are still in contention for a top-four finish in the table, while LSG’s juggernaut has been curbed for the time being. The teams will meet again in Delhi on May 13.

Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giants

The two defending champions of this format will be hoping to make a winning start to the season. The ekana stadium is known for its placid surface that has assisted pace bowlers in the past, but both sides will be looking to balance their batting orders as they aim to get off to a winning start.

The hosts opted to bat first on the pitch and Nicholas Pooran (75 off 30 balls, 7 sixes, 6 fours) and Mitchell Marsh (76 off 42 balls, 4x6s, 5x4s) helped them reach a below-par total of 209 for 8. In reply, DC slipped to seven for three in the second over and looked set for an early defeat.

However, Ashutosh struck a brilliant 66 off 31 balls to help his side win the game from the jaws of defeat. The right-hander smacked five sixes and as many fours to give Delhi a superb victory in the opening game of the season.

The dew factor played a key role in the match as it made batting difficult for both sides. Rishabh Pant said that they were brilliant with the bat and the bowlers did well in the Powerplay. He added that when the dew is such they cannot do much about it but they will try to improve their performance in the remaining matches.

LSG will be without Wanindu Hasaranga who is yet to clear a fitness test. He could be replaced by either Rovman Powell or Anrich Nortje. The latter has been impressive for the franchise in previous seasons and could replace one of Andrew Tye or Evin Lewis. However, the club will be wary of overdependence on their overseas batsmen and find a way to balance their batting order.

Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk announced himself with a belligerent half-century on his IPL debut while spinner Kuldeep Yadav dazzled with the ball as Delhi Capitals clinched a morale-boosting six-wicket win over LSG in their opening game in Visakhapatnam.

Ayush Badoni smashed a quick-fire unbeaten 55 off 35 balls as DC recovered from a disastrous start to post 167/7 after Kuldeep’s three-wicket haul. His 77-run partnership with captain Rishabh Pant (41 not out) was enough to steer DC to their second win of the tournament.

Both teams have a lot to look forward to in the remainder of this season. LSG finished seventh in the last IPL with six wins from 14 games, while Delhi were two spots above them and missed out on a playoff spot. This clash in Visakhapatnam will be a high-voltage affair as both sides will go head-to-head to establish their identity with the bat and bowl.

Delhi Capitals vs LSG Live Score

Defending champions Delhi Capitals will look to avoid a third straight defeat when they take on newcomers Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

The visitors have a strong chance to move up the table and a win will be crucial for their playoff chances. The game will see a battle between two enormously gifted players who are both earmarked as future India captains. They will be keen to show that their tactical acumen is up to the mark in this match.

Delhi will hope to make the most of the home ground advantage and a quick start would help them in this regard. Abhishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs have done a good job in the powerplay while Prithvi Shaw has also looked in fine form. However, the Delhi batsmen need to be more aggressive in order to put themselves in a commanding position.

Nicholas Pooran will be the key man for LSG and his ability to score quickly is vital for their cause. He will be a huge target for Delhi and they will try to bowl him out early in the innings. They will also want to ensure that they do not lose too many wickets and improve their net run rate.

LSG have some good spinners in the likes of Ravi Bishnoi, Digvesh Rathi and Avesh Khan who are very dangerous. However, the batting has been a major concern for them and it will be interesting to see how they tackle DC’s attack.

Kuldeep Yadav will continue to be the lead spinner for the visitors, and he has been very effective in both his recent outings. He has the ability to turn a game around and will be backed by Mustafizur Rahman, who has been in excellent form.

Both bowlers will look to take early wickets and put the Delhi batting lineup under pressure on this tricky pitch. The Lucknow Super Giants Vs Delhi Capitals Match Scorecard provides a detailed overview of the match, including batting and bowling performances, wickets, and key moments.
