India vs West Indies
The West Indies cricket team is a national cricket team representing the Caribbean region of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The country was one of the first to be granted Test status in 1928, and soon established itself as an elite force in the game with a string of all-conquering dynasties in both tests and ODIs.
Featuring such legendary names as Worrell, Weekes and Walcott, and the peerless Garfield Sobers and Viv Richards, the Windies were pioneering forces in the earliest days of ODI and Twenty20 cricket and have maintained a strong presence to this day.
The team consists of players from the countries and territories of the Caribbean that form the West Indies Federation (Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, and Dominica) plus Jamaica and Guyana.
Two more British Overseas Territories in the region that were historical parts of the West Indies, the Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands, have their own national teams.
The various island teams play alongside each other in the regional four-day competition known as the Shell Shield, Busta Cup or Carib Beer Cup, and occasionally against each other in international matches.
After a dreadful start to the series, the West Indies looked to have turned a corner after the second match in Chennai. The batsmen have been more productive and there is a sense of purpose about the way the team is going about its business. But things have not gone entirely to plan, and India look like they are in the driving seat here.
A fine century from Campbell puts the visitors on top here, but they cannot afford to self-combust. He has played some attacking shots, but his innings is also characterised by a lot of patience and discipline. It is an impressive display from the skipper in this format.
Jangoo is now at the crease; he has made his debut for the Windies in this format and has been playing well so far. He has a good partnership with Hope in the middle, and they are putting on a decent score for the Caribbean side. It is good to see the batsmen not panicking against this quality bowling line-up from India.
Kuldeep Yadav continues to be the stand-out performer for India, and he has picked up another wicket. He has a brilliant control of his line and length, and the ball is turning nicely for him as well.
The Windies have struggled with the bat in the opening overs, but that could change very quickly. The batsmen are putting on a solid partnership here, and if they can hold this on for a while, it will put them in a great position in the game. They will need a couple of big scores from their top three, but they are well on the road to doing that.
They have been a good unit to watch so far, and it is interesting to see what they can do in the final session of the game. Fans can follow the West Indies Cricket Team Vs India National Cricket Team Match Scorecard for the latest scores, batting performances, bowling figures, and match updates.
