India vs Netherlands

The India vs Netherlands match is getting heated up. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma are accelerating for India, but Abhishek Sharma is out without scoring. He goes for a big swing and misses, while Aryan Dutt takes an incredible catch in the off-side netting. He’s gone for a duck for the third time in this tournament, equalling Ashish Nehra’s record for the most consecutive ducks.

Jasprit Bumrah bowls a good first over, conceding just one boundary in the powerplay. But he also strikes the key wicket of Max O’Dowd with a terrific inswinger. He tries to go over the top with a cover drive, but gets beaten by the extra pace. He’s gone for a duck, which means that Abhishek Sharma has now made three consecutive ducks in this tournament.

India are now on the cusp of a famous victory at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen. The Indians will take a big step forward if they can win this one and reach the semifinals. However, a defeat against Argentina on Monday would make it difficult for them to qualify from the group stage.

A loss would mean that they will only have two points from their four matches, which is not enough to advance into the fifth-eighth place classification games. The Indians will need to be much sharper on both the field and the run-chase. They will have to play their best if they want to win against the Dutch.

Group A

The Netherlands fought hard in the middle overs to keep pace with India, but they lost key wickets as the hosts gained momentum. Aryan Dutt starred for the Dutch, removing both Indian openers inside the Powerplay. He finished his quota with impressive figures of 4-0-19-2. Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede bowled economically but went wicketless.

KEY BROKEN: Michael Levitt plays a rash shot off the back foot trying to muscle the ball through towards short midwicket. The connection is clean enough to generate some lift, but the ball slices through the air and lands in the circle at deep midwicket. Rinku Singh tracks the line calmly and completes a fine catch. Netherlands are 35/1, still trailing by a huge margin.

A well-timed strike from Varun Chakaravarthy halts the Netherlands surge just as they begin to accelerate. He darts one in full and straight on middle — the deceptive googly. Colin Ackermann rocks back to swing but misses the line and the ball clatters into the leg stump.

Aryan Dutt lasts a single ball before Varun castles him to tilt control firmly back in India’s favour. The hosts have used 12 bowlers in the match, the most they have ever done in a T20 World Cup. It is their second-highest total without a fifty, behind their record-breaking 193/4 in 2009.

Match 1

Defending champions India crushed a spirited Netherlands side to stay unbeaten in Group A of the T20 World Cup at Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli smashed another fine half-century and Suryakumar Yadav also made a substantial contribution as the hosts ran away with an easy win in front of a packed and noisy 110,000-capacity stadium.

KL Rahul was dismissed early on but Kohli quickly got into top gear and shared a 73-run stand with Shivam Dube, who smashed four sixes in his 51-ball innings to delight the drum-beating, flag-waving crowd. The pair brought up the 150-run mark in just over 12 overs to ensure India finished their innings strongly.

Netherlands struggled to keep up with the run rate and spinner Varun Chakravarthy soon put a brake on their progress, claiming Max O’Dowd (lbw for 16) and Michael Levitt (34) while Jasprit Bumrah sent back Colin Ackermann and Tom Cooper. Zach Lion-Cachet (26) and Noah Croes (unbeaten 25) hit the occasional boundary but it was never enough to give the Dutch a chance of pulling off a miracle.

Match 2

India continued their flawless run in the T20 World Cup with a comfortable victory over the Netherlands at the SCG. A dominant batting display led by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who shared an unbroken 73-run stand, saw them ease to 177-4 after bowling out the Dutch for 123.

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bat on a pitch with a hint of dew in the air. Opener KL Rahul struggled to get going before being trapped lbw on nine by Fred Klaassen. That brought Kohli to the crease amidst huge cheers from the drum-beating, flag-waving crowd.

The captain was in superb touch, hitting four sixes as he reached his 29th T20 half-century. Rohit then joined him and the pair clobbered some top-class boundaries as India raced to a 61-run lead by the end of their innings.

The Netherlands made a determined fightback with Bas de Leede and Colin Ackermann showing glimpses of promise, but they were ultimately undone by that man Varun Chakravarthy who spun a web with his superb 3/14 in three overs. An odd collision between SKY and Rinku meant the former missed a chance to take a catch, which would have almost certainly ended the tournament for him.

Match 3

The defending champions India beat a spirited Netherlands team to stay unbeaten in the group stage and keep their hopes of reaching the last four alive at the T20 World Cup in Ahmedabad. The Indians took control from the get-go and eased to 193-6 with opener Shivam Dube leading the way, blasting 66 off 31 balls before being dismissed by Colin Ackermann in front of a delirious 110,000-capacity crowd.

Kohli and Rohit then put on a 113-run partnership to ensure the home side made a strong start. The superstar pair clobbered some top-class boundaries, sparking huge roars from the drum-beating, flag-waving crowd.

But, as the innings progressed, the Dutch wickets began to fall at regular intervals. Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent back Max O’Dowd and Michael Levitt in quick succession, while spinner Varun Chakravarthy also removed Colin Ackermann (nine) and Tom Cooper (two).

Zach Lion-Cachet (26) and Noah Croes tried to rally the Dutch cause but Dube snatched a catch from the boundary rope off Jasprit Bumrah to ensure India ran out winners. The result meant that India are still in pole position in the pool, level on four points with South Africa and a win over Afghanistan would see them top the table.

Match 4

Virat Kohli smashed a second successive half-century as India thrashed the Netherlands at Melbourne’s SCG to put themselves in a strong position in Group 2 of the T20 World Cup. Kohli (62 off 44 balls) and Rohit Sharma (53) shared a 73-run stand as the hosts raced to 179-2 after tea, before holding a spirited Dutch side to 123-9 in reply.

Kohli’s brisk knock saw him reach his 29th T20 half-century, while India opener KL Rahul was also in the runs, hitting two fours and six sixes in his 31-ball innings before he was caught by Colin Ackermann near the boundary rope off Fred Klaassen. But Shivam Dube stepped up the tempo, smashing three fours and seven sixes in his unbeaten 66-ball innings to guide India to a competitive total.

The Indian bowlers kept the Netherlands in check, with Varun Chakravarthy claiming his first wicket of the tournament as he sent back Max O’Dowd for 20 and then dismissed Michael Levitt and Tom Cooper to leave them struggling at 51-3.

But Bas de Leede (33) and Noah Croes (unbeaten 25) hit some lusty blows but could not stop the slide as India took control. The India National Cricket Team Vs Netherlands National Cricket Team Match Scorecard highlights India’s disciplined bowling performance and the Netherlands’ struggle to keep up with the required run rate.
